Before you can start proton treatments there is a lot of preparation to protect your health. There is blood work, chest X-rays, an MRI, and a procedure only available at select proton institutes including the one at Jacksonville. This is an advanced form of technology safely placed in the body and used to reduce injury to men receiving proton therapy for their cancer treatments.
So, tomorrow, I will see if I can get a local radiology lab to provide a chest X-ray and an MRI with a lab order coming from UFHealth. If this works, I’ll be able to get a jump on the rest of my preparations.
Today, I called Medicare and asked them if my insurance looked OK on their end and they told me everything was OK. Next Tuesday should be an interesting day.
