Patient’s Portal

Today I was reminded to sign into my patient’s portal in preparation for an upcoming medical appointment. During this recent medical journey, I’ve had to set up a few Patient Portals. Of course, they’re all standardized, easy to use, and very accurate, and everyone uses them. (Is there an emoji for sarcasm?)

I have learned that it is important to check the personal information that is input into these portals because mistakes are made.  One doctor’s portal had me on medications I have never taken. Another doctor’s portal had me as a smoker and I have never been a smoker. Once I found these mistakes and notified the doctor’s office, the corrections were quickly made. (Insert sarcasm emoji here.)

It is very apparent when a doctor’s office takes their portal seriously because when you visit that office the first thing the nurse does is take your temperature, your height/weight, and blood pressure, and they log into the portal and check your data there. I have found these doctor’s portals very helpful for keeping records and communicating with the doctor and staff. (Insert an enthusiastic emoji here)

I will be able to read Friday’s MRI report, through one of my portals before the doctor sees it. That’s not to say ‘ll understand it.

Remind me to check portals regularly.
